Thanks to Adam Lanza, 20, of New Jersey who went on a murderous rampage in an elementary school in Newtown Connecticut killing children and teachers, the NRA ranks will again swell and gun stores will have a bumper crop in gun sales. Following the movie theater shooting in Colorado there was an up surge in gun sales and I am sure we will see it again following the elementary school shooting in Connecticut. The NRA defends the right of every red blooded American to own guns, no matter how irrational that is. The bigger the caliber the better. Every American has a right according to the NRA to own as many guns as he can afford.
There is a disconnect when it comes to guns in America, and we need a new national dialogue on gun ownership. Who really needs guns? Of course we recognize that law enforcement and military need them. After that if no one else had guns maybe and just maybe these senseless mass killings wouldn't happen, Oops, forgot if you take away guns from HONEST CITIZENS then only the criminals will have guns. NO, that is an old argument that is full of crap. If we eliminate guns in society the criminal's guns will dry up also. Most criminals don't march into a school, movie theater or a diner and open fire on everybody in there. It is the seething, law abiding, citizen who finally goes nuts at some perceived bullshit that does this. It is the guy who's second amendment right's are protected by the NRA that does it.
Think of all the people you know or are related too who have never had a criminal past and could go out and buy guns. Do you think they are all stable. Would you like to see them all with guns. We need to rethink the second amendment and it's interpretation. Maybe the phrase " a well regulated militia..." means the military, not Joe crazy next door.

Here is a list of five lies that Paul Ryan told when he gave his speech at the Republican National Convention last night. Every single news outlet should report on these lies.
1. Lie: President Obama is the "greatest threat" to Medicare.
Truth: Obama didn't make any cuts to Medicare benefits; he made cuts to provider reimbursements, to improve cost efficiency and extend the fiscal security of Medicare by eight years. According to the Medicare actuary, "[Obama's] Affordable Care Act makes important changes to the Medicare program and substantially improves its financial outlook."
But Ryan actually does want to cut benefits. He proposed dismantling Medicare and replacing it with a voucher system, leaving millions of seniors to come up with more money to pay for care out of pocket.
2. Lie: President Obama didn't save a General Motors plant in Wisconsin.
Truth: First, Obama wasn't even in office when the GM plant closed. Second, Obama never made a promise to save it.
3. Lie: President Obama ignored recommendations of a bipartisan debt commission.
Truth: Paul Ryan actually sat on that commission. And he led Republicans in voting down the commission's own recommendation. So the commission never gave a report to Obama, because Ryan himself voted to kill the report before it could.
4. Lie: President Obama is responsible for the downgrading of the U.S. Credit Rating
Truth: House Republicans, including Paul Ryan, held the full faith and credit of the United States hostage to try to ransom it for trillions of dollars in cuts to social programs without increasing taxes on the wealthy one dime. Standard & Poors said specifically, "We have changed our assumption on [revenue] because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues." That's why our nation's credit rating was downgraded.
5. Lie: Ryan wants to protect the "weak."
Truth: Ryan's biggest feat in his political career was proposing a budget with dramatic cuts to programs benefiting the poor. He'd cut Medicaid by one third, take away health care insurance from 30 million Americans, and cut Pell Grants for 1 million students. All so that he could give more tax breaks to the rich.

You're about as late an arrival in Irish politics as Sarah Palin is in American politics and both of you have the same tactic. The tactic is to get a large crowd, whip them up, try and discover what is the greatest fear, work on that, and feed it right back in a frenzy. And that leads you in time then when you have in fact maybe one of the most gifted Presidents elected. I happen to not agree with all of his foreign policy but you know you regard for example someone who happens to have been a professor at Harvard as somehow now very handicapped.
You don't find anything wrong at all with this Tea Party ignorance that is being brought all around the United States, which is regularly insulting people who have been democratically elected.

It is either lies, hypocrisy or stupidity from the Republicans. They must think we are all stupid to believe this shit. They have never supported helping working Americans, the middle class or the working poor. For them it is about the rich getting richer and the rest of America serving them as their permanent underclass, slaves is a good word. It took 30 years to get Medicare. Social Security was opposed by the Republicans for years but the Democrats prevailed. It has always been the Democrats in the vanguard protecting the rights of Americans against the elite two percent, against greed and perceived privilege. The Republicans will destroy Social Security and Medicare if they win. We will be a poorer nation for it and millions of Americans will lead lives of desperation and suffering. But the elite Romney's of the world will be fine, boy I am so glad of that.

It has just gotten harder to vote in America if you are a minority, poor or a senior citizen. A number of states, all Republican led or controlled, have pushed voter reform making it much more difficult for people to vote. These states have made voting contingent on photo identification. They have done this in the name of voter fraud. Statistics point out that since 2000 there have been possibly 10 questions of voter fraud across the country, 10 in twelve years. This is making laws for a problem that virtually doesn't exist. The real reason for this is that the poor, the aged and minorities would be those most effected by this legislation. The very people that Republicans see as Obama voters.
In the past politicians have always encouraged the American people to get out and vote. Now we see the Republican led states and legislators fighting to deny millions of Americans the vote. This is cheating and dirty politics. Romney should refute this tactic as dishonest and un-American but he won't.
Just as he won't release his taxes. Why won't he release his taxes? Maybe due to the tax amnesty offered a few years ago to people who violated American law and were hiding money in foreign banks in violation of American tax law.

AUTISM-UNDECLARED STATE OF EMERGENCY

THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL (CDC) ANNOUNCED STARTLING CONTINUED INCREASES IN AUTISM RATES IN A MARCH 2012 REPORT.

Autism File Editor-in-Chief Polly Tommey declares "The lack of response from Government Agencies and Officials to such widespread suffering among children and families is shocking".(1.) During the 1980s the autism rate was 1 in 10,000. In March 2012, the CDC announced that a study of the CDC's Office of Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) showed that AUTISM RATES ARE NOW 1 IN 88, AND FOR BOYS THE RATE IS NOW A STARTLING 1 IN 54. Tommey, goes on to call for federal health agencies to declare a state of emergency. Tommey states that no U.S. health agency has conducted basic research of comparing health outcomes in vaccinated and non-vaccinated populations despite the fact that the data is available. In 2005 UPI reporter Dan Olmsted, tried to compare the vaccinated U.S. population, by comparing it to the unvaccinated population of the Amish in Lancaster, Pa. In that year, the CDC’s calculation of 1 in 166 U.S. children had autism. Olmsted therefore expected that fort the Amish population, a total of 100 children in Lancaster would have autism. He only found 3. One was a girl adopted from China. A second was an Amish child that had been vaccinated, and the third child’s vaccination status was unclear. (9.)

In the U.S. children now receive as many as 48 vaccinations by age six. The cumulative effects have never been studied.(2.) The safety of giving multiple vaccinations in one day, up to nine, has also not been studied. The author indicates we need to keep in mind that the blood brain barrier, which is especially vulnerable to toxic assault, has not yet been fully formed at age six.

The number of vaccinations recommended for children in the U.S. by age two years has risen from 8 in 1983 to 27 in 2010. Research analysis of vaccinations

given up to age two years and the prevalence of autism or speech/language impairment (SLI) found that the higher the prevalence of those receiving the vaccinations, the higher the prevalence of autism or SLI. “A review of more than a century of medical literature reveals ample evidence that neurological and immune system dysfunction caused by infectious diseases are often identical to neurological and immune system dysfunction caused by vaccines created using those same lab altered viruses and bacteria. A host disease or host/vaccine interaction causes inflammation which is acute at first and becomes chronic rather than resolving and leaving the host with good health. In both cases, the end result is unresolved inflammation leading to immune-mediated brain dysfunction of varying degrees of severity, which is the same profile many have observed in children with autism spectrum disorders.” (6.)(7.)(8.) Acute brain inflammation can manifest in learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, seizure disorders, autism, mental retardation, and other developmental delays. (6.)

United States Health Agencies need to reexamine what “good health” should be.

Using multiple vaccinations may play a critical role in the increase of the chronic disease known as autism. Several hundred vaccines are in development worldwide, (10) with calls for more, and no exemptions. (11) The vaccination program needs to be reviewed and reworked, requiring a minimum number of vaccinations until studies are conducted on animals first. Further, data available needs to be examined prior to continuing the current vaccination requirement. What is the federal government waiting for? Does every child born need to be on the autism spectrum before anything is done? And, what of those families already affected? Is the federal government trying to avoid the financial burden of admitting it’s required vaccination program is responsible for the damage already done?

Rising Republican star Paul Ryan has been condemned at a top Catholic university for remarks that his budget plan was inspired by church teaching.

Faculty members and priests at Georgetown said they could not condone a spending blueprint they warned would hurt society's most vulnerable.

Mr Ryan's plan has been praised by presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Interview With Bruce Bartlett: Where the Right Went Wrong

BILL MOYERS: Heather McGhee speaks of how the neoliberal economic experience of the last 30 years – including cutting taxes on the rich and waiting for the wealth and prosperity to trickle down -- has left her generation of Millennials standing under a spigot someone forgot to turn on. After a few drips and drops, it went dry. So did the very notion of equal opportunity for all. And today we’re living in a country deeply divided between winners and losers. Nowhere is that more evident than in our tax system – so distorted by loopholes, exemptions, credits, and deductions favoring the already rich and powerful that it no longer can raise the money needed to pay the government’s bills.

Among the people who saw this crisis coming was the conservative economist Bruce Bartlett, the supply-side champion who wrote the manifesto for the Reagan Revolution. Bartlett became a senior policy analyst in the Reagan White House and a top official at the Treasury Department under the first George Bush. Yet for all those credentials, he is today an outcast from the very conservative ranks where he was once so influential. That’s because Bruce Bartlett dared to write a book criticizing the second George Bush as a pretend conservative who slashed taxes but still spent with wild abandon.

The subtitle says it all: How George W. Bush Bankrupted America and Betrayed the Reagan Legacy.

For his heresy Bartlett was sacked by the conservative think tank where he worked. Undaunted, this card-carrying advocate of free markets and small government has been a prolific writer for popular and academic journals and has just published a new book: The Benefit and the Burden: Tax Reform - Why We Need It and What It Will Take. It’s a layman’s guide through the jungle of a tax system that, thanks to rented politicians and anti-tax ideologues like Grover Norquist, enable the one percent to make off like bandits while our national debt soars sky-high. I talked to Bruce Bartlett soon after he had finished his new book.

"Igor Semiletov, of the Far Eastern branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has warned of having witnessed unprecedented volumes of the lethal greenhouse gas methane - which is 20 times as bad as carbon dioxide for heat retention –bubbling to the Arctic Ocean surface during an extensive survey there.

A Russian research team been surveying the seabed of the East Siberian Arctic Shelf off northern Russia for nearly 20 years, and are astounded at the scale and volume of the methane being released from beneath the Arctic seabed.
In earlier surveys, the team had found torch-like plume structures were only tens of metres wide, but this time they have discovered, for the very first time, continuous, powerful and impressive seeping structures, more than 100 times bigger.
The team were even more astonished that the sheer scale and high density of the plumes was such that over 100 were discovered in a relatively small area, suggesting that there should be thousands of them throughout the arctic region
It has been estimated that the Arctic permafrost is the storeroom for possibly billions of tonnes of methane gas, locked in the frozen ground, which extends for a vast distance into the seabed of the relatively shallow East Siberian Arctic Shelf sea from the mainland.
With Arctic sea-ice disappearing at ever more rapid rates in the summer months, and the region subject to rapidly risingtemperatures, the Siberian permafrost is already melting, and should the the trapped methane be suddenly released, the atmosphere would quickly change so much that rapid and severe climate change would be inevitable.
The Russian team published a 2010 study which estimated annual methane emissions from this region at 8,000,000 tons a year, but the latest findings make this seem a gross underestimate of the real situation.
The Academician Lavrentiev research vessel carried out a ten thousand square mile survey of East Siberian coastal seas, deploying four highly sensitive seismic and acoustic instruments to monitor the methane bubbles rising to the sea surface from beneath the seabed in plumes.
Checks conducted at over one hundred stationary points revealed methane fields on a scale not seen before, with some plumes as much as a kilometre wide, the emissions going directly into the atmosphere at concentrations 100 times higher than has been normal before. It seems likely that, within 20 years the arctic will be ice-free in summer months, and even more alarmingly, that global warming has already reached the point of no return."

Father Nathan Monk tells the City Council, "We have the right to redress our government without fear of being arrested," and is nearly arrested. Read the article:

"Monk had not raised his voice or threatened anybody. He merely stated in no uncertain terms that the government violated the civil liberties of several citizens who had spoken in opposition to proposed anti-homeless ordinances earlier in the week.

The council took umbrage and had the citizens removed after they made comparisons between the ordinances and Heinrich Himmler’s Final Solution.

“As Americans, we have the right to redress our government without fear of being arrested,” said Monk. “Whether or not they’re connecting dots from Hitler to George Wallace to Barney … you should be asking, ‘well what are we doing that’s allowing people to connect those dots?’ It was a sick and gross abuse of power.”

Council President Hall interrupted Monk. “Your time is up, sit down,” he said.

“No, I have a minute and 12 seconds left,” Monk said as he glanced at the timer on the speaker’s lectern.

“I’m ruling you out of order,” Hall said.

At that point the council had cops flank Monk.

The priest was not arrested and two council members stormed off in protest of the obvious dictatorial behavior of their fellow members.

The incident is more evidence that government – from the federal government all the way down to state and local government – is increasingly out of control and often flagrantly violates the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It treats citizens like subjects to be abused, culled for “revenue enhancement,” victimized by militarized police, and taxed relentlessly." Kurt Nimmo
