health insurance is a benevolent industry that does good in the world and serves their communities with caring benevolence, excuse me while I puke

"You know, we have more people who are uninsured in this country than the entire population of Canada. And that if you include the people who are underinsured, more people than in the United Kingdom. We have huge numbers of people who are also just a lay-off away from joining the ranks of the uninsured, or being purged by their insurance company, and winding up there.

And another thing is that the advocates of reform or the opponents of reform are those who are saying that we need to be careful about what we do here, because we don't want the government to take away your choice of a health plan. It's more likely that your employer and your insurer is going to switch you from a plan that you're in now to one that you don't want. You might be in the plan you like now.

But chances are, pretty soon, you're going to be enrolled in one of these high deductible plans in which you're going to find that much more of the cost is being shifted to you than you ever imagined."

~Wendell Potter, health insurance insider and whistle blower

If you believe the Gay Old Party (GOP), the Tea Baggers, and the far Right, the health insurance industry is a benevolent industry that does good in the world and serves their communities with caring benevolence, excuse me while I puke. They have called President Obama's health reform an attack on America that would turn us into a European type socialist hell. Not to mention that there are a number of American states that have government plans and state mandated programs that work and as a result most people in their states are covered and are healthier. One unusual fact is that these states tend to be liberal or democrat. Some of those states are Massachusetts, Hawaii, Minnesota, Vermont and a few more. The worst states with the lowest amount of coverage and worst health standards for their citizens are in the Republican and Conservatives states, such as Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and there are more. But we shouldn't let the fact that a government controlled health care system can and does work get in the way good old fashion lies and bullshit perpetuated by the paid off Gay Old Party. Paid off by the very health insurance industry that they are defending while at they same time that industry rips off the public."Keep government out of my health care!". Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield announced a 39 % increase for individual policyholders in California effecting over 800.000 policy holders while at the same time making record profits in the billions. "Let the market decide!", "we don't want socialism!". WellPoint Blue Cross and Blue Shield has announced double digit increases in insurance rates in 11 states, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Maine, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

"In Maine, where WellPoint-owned Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is by far the largest insurer, the company is seeking to raise individual rates an average of 23 percent this year. This comes after five consecutive years of double-digit premium increases by the company on these policies.

*In Indiana, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield is increasing rates an average of 21 percent this year, hitting some individuals with hikes of up to 50 percent.

*In Colorado, the big WellPoint owned insurer is boosting individual premiums by an average of 19.9 percent this year.

*Connecticut state insurance regulators allowed Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield to impose a 20 percent hike last year after the WellPoint-owned insurer sought permission to hike rates on individual policies by 22 percent to 32 percent. There are also signs that WellPoint has substantially increased rates on “small group” policies, which cover small businesses with up to 50 employees.

*In New York WellPoint is increasing premiums on small group policies by up to 28.6 percent this year.

*Small group policies in New Hampshire went up 17 percent in 2009."

The Tea Baggers, Gay Old Party (GOP) and far Right activists whose voices were raised in defense of the free market and keeping government out of their health care need to explain to all those people who are being slammed by the health insurance industry why their system of gouging small businesses and individuals, denying and dropping the poor and the sick is good. The net result of this will be the loss of insurance to millions of Americans, especially small businesses and individual families who can no longer afford the premiums. But hey they say that President Obama is a dirty socialist. The fact that he wants all Americans to have access to health care at a fair price is really a cover for SOCIALISM! SOCIALISM! SOCIALISM! SOCIALISM! SOCIALISM! SOCIALISM! SOCIALISM! SOCIALISM! Run for your lives the SOCIALIST are coming to give you an affordable health care system that will protect all Americans, help SOCIALISM!

O'Reilly Wonders if Pitching In to Help the Uninsured and Poor is "Worth the Toll"

Readers Comment.

1. You have no idea how happy I am about Arnold & Gen. Powell. There are two real Americans with humanity. I don't say give everything we've got out to everyone. If you work hard and achieve success you should do better... But, when the richest, most crooked, selfish indiv's try to eliminate the middle class, entitlements, and basic rights,...we've dropped down to a real low point. There are two men who should be in public office for a long time to come. I believe they would act on each issue based on merit, not political dogma. You have no idea how disappointed I was in McCane. I thought he was an individualist. Yet, he turned to, & embraced the same policies that put us in the fix we're in. He virtually threw away a sure win in the election by following the party line...

I really thought he was going to come out with his own philosophical vision for the country... and then,...Sarah Palin to boot. How can you attack Obama's lack of experience & then project the same image???????? 'Makes no sense to me. Whatever happened to the two parties??? What we have now are the Liberal & Conservative parties. If they both don't start moving towards the middle, we'll be surpassed by third world nations. It can't be EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF, or we'll all lose. Despite crooked banking practices, fraudulent insurance practices, & security rating practices, I am not aware of any prospective prosecutions...Do you think $ has changed hands??? There have always been scandals in which money handlers have gotten sticky fingers, but under deregulation...the "most talented" crooks have fleeced us all. I sure hope the voters don't get taken in by this "tea party" propaganda... Last time voters were more concerned with Gay Marriage than in their own financial security.

Voters are so easily taken in. Obama wants to let tax relief for the richest expire. Republicans say the Pres. wants to raise taxes...Too many people think this means for all. That's just one example of misdirection without stating a lie. Anonymous

Schwartzenegger, Powell and Petraeus contradict the Republican hypocracy

I have been thinking that I would make a proposition to my Republican friends... that if they will stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them.
~Adlai Stevenson

Oh my, Republican governor Arnold Schwartzenegger is saying the Republicans are hypocrites on the stimulus issue. Taking credit for money going to their states to create jobs while voting against it.

“I find it interesting that you have a lot of the Republicans running around and pushing back on stimulus money and saying this doesn’t create any new jobs, and then they go out and do photo-ops and they’re posing with the big check and they say, ‘Isn’t this great! Look the kind of money I provide here for the state! And this is great money to create jobs, and this has created 10,000 new jobs, and this has created 20,000 new jobs,’” Schwarzenegger said on ABC’s “This Week.” “It doesn’t match up.”Asked by “This Week” host Terry Moran if that amounted to hypocrisy, Schwarzenegger responded: “Exactly.” (quote form What Arnold doesn't understand is that is what Republicans are about, they are dishonest and don't really serve the needs of the people. They will take credit they don't deserve and they need to be called out on it and seen for what they are.

Another Republican former secretary of state, and commander of the joint chiefs, Colin Powell contradicted vice president Cheney, that America is less safe under Obama on Face The Nation and general David Petraeus also departed form the Cheney/Bush doctrine on the use of torture. Calling for the closure of Guantanimo. He also stated that “I have always been on the record, in fact, since 2003, with the concept of living our values. And I think that whenever we’ve perhaps taken expedient measures, they’ve turned around and bitten us in the backside. We decided early on, in the 101st airborne division, we just said, we decided to obey the Geneva Conventions… In the cases where that is not true [where torture takes place or international human rights groups aren't granted access to detention sites] we end up paying a price for it, ultimately,”

It has renewed my faith a little that there are republicans like Powell and Schwartzenegger that are honest and step forward and can support a president even from another party because he is doing the right thing and is taking the moral high ground. The fact that the darling of the Right Wing general Petraeus is supporting Obama's programs and contradicting Cheney is something I fully understand. He's military and when he served the Bush administration he followed orders and held his peace and did a good honest job. Now under the Obama administration that opposes torture he is free to support a position he has held all the time.
