Sticking their collective heads up their own ass will not help, the danger is real and the process has begun.

How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four; calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg. -Abraham Lincoln, 16th president of the United States and country lawyer.

I have a dear friend who never goes to a doctor unless he breaks something. He injured his knee and was on crutches. While in his basement office was trying to pick something up while walking around his office on one crutch. He ended up catapulting himself and crashing into the floor and knocking himself out. He's not the most graceful of people or clearly the most agile. As a result of his self inflicted crash into the concrete floor of his basement he had to go to the doctor to have his head sewn back together. Fortunately his face has all it's composite parts in the right place. That was to be one of his few and far between doctor visits. He is in his sixties and hasn't had a colonoscopy, blood test, cardiogram, or any of the exams that one takes as one ages. In reality he has not had a regular exam in thirty years. He is either going to be extremely lucky or extremely unlucky. My suggestions to get a full exam are brushed aside due to either no time, too busy or too tired, I really think it is a combination of fear and laziness.
He is like many Americans who refuse to examine the evidence about global warming and climate change. They look out their windows and see everything looks normal so far, therefore they assume everything is normal. And if they consider themselves the well informed kind that listens to "Fair and Balanced" (a joke) Fox News, and if you believe Fox is fair and balanced you probably still believe in the tooth fairy, then they are convinced climate change is all a liberal hype and that there is no problem. So they resume their "normal" lives oblivious to the world around them and the danger that scientists from around the world are addressing with increasing concern and fear.
Sticking their collective heads up their own ass will not help, the danger is real and the process has begun. They need to read the reports, examine the research, listen to the real scientists. Being a contrarian, sticking their heads in the sand, denying the obvious is foolish and intellectually immature. The Right Wing evangelicals could care less all they want are all the Jews to return to Israel so that they can have the Apocalypse, a wrong use of the word, theirs not mine, and then the rapture. They want to assend to heaven with god and leave the rest of us to go to hell, and they call themselves Christians. They are crazy and there is no help for them, but for those of us who in the deep recesses of their mind have doubt, who question, who think and really want to understand and know the truth and not just the prattle, slogans and stupidity, examine the facts, learn, and then decide based on empirical scientific evidence, not the morons on Fox or shills for Mobile Oil and the oil industry. As said in the movie, On The Beach, "There's Still Time Brother", but it is running out, we don't have as much as people think.

Dana Perino, (dingbat) former WH press secretary on Fox (white man) News said that "under the Bush administration we never had a terrorist attack on the United States". So I guess 9/11 never happened and Bush never had a Deer in the Headlight Moment when he was informed of the attack on New York City and the Twin Towers. Nope, never happened! Duh. And that intellectual luminary Hannity agreed with her, what has he been smoking? No one pays me to write this so I can say it, Hannity is one dumb shit head.

John,
These are the same people who were saying in the Spring that the swine flu was not real, and that President Obama was ordering the H1N1 vaccines to push his hcr agenda. Now they are lining up in droves to get vaccinations and blaming the president for the vaccine shortages. It seems that nothing is real to them until it becomes personal.
They are now saying climate change is not real, in spite of data from climate scientists that show the opposite. Those of us who think for ourselves and read the data must win on this issue and must assume responsibility for ourselves and the deniers since they don't seem to have sense enough to realize that the planet is in danger and doing nothing is not an option. They haven't thought far enough ahead to consider that, if the rapture doesn't come, what they'll do with a planet that will be uninhabitable and the resultant fallout from their opposition to working on the problem sooner rather than later.
