Though he did not publicly admit to the relationship, in a letter to his congregation, Mr. Haggard said that he was “guilty of sexual immorality” and that he had struggled all his life with impulses he called “repulsive and dark.” NYT.com
Most enlightened countries in the western world have a more tolerant policy toward gay marriage. America is still looking backward on this issue. It is time that Americans open their hearts and know that these gay Americans are people who have dreams and hopes and sorrows that all Americans share and their choice of partner is no ones business but their own. It may be that America has an intellectual void and that unless America can raise its intellectual IQ and correct it's moral compass, discrimination, bigotry, intolerance and racism will continue to be American characteristics.

PLANETARY BOUNDARIES: THE CO2 <350>
October 13th, 2009
Andrew Glikson
"THE RISE OF ATMOSPHERIC CO2 ABOVE 350 PPM AT THE CURRENT RATE OF 2 PPM/YEAR IS TRANSCENDING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS WHICH ALLOWED THE DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN CIVILIZATION AND, WITH LAG EFFECTS, IS LEADING TOWARD AN ICE-FREE EARTH AND A MASS EXTINCTION OF SPECIES"
"Climate change is tracking toward levels which transcend the planetary boundaries which allowed the development of humans over the last 3 million years [1]. These limits have already been crossed in terms of the rise in greenhouse gases (CO2, methane, Nitric oxide) and extensive loss of species [1]. Given lag effects, looming threats include (A) ocean acidification and phosphorous flux, collapse of coral reefs and the marine food chain; (B) availability of freshwater; (C) conversion of natural forests to cropland, i.e. the Amazon; (D) ozone depletion; (E) atmospheric aerosol loading and (F) chemical pollution by metals, plastics, radioactive nuclei etc."

Thank you, John for showing me how to do this. Okay--you say gay is not catching--but neither is it inherent. There is no "gay gene" despite all the misconceptions generated by those who want to convince us otherwise (Hamer, LeVay, who happens to be gay, et al.).
So if it is not inherent, it is then behavioral, which means that one can be influenced to act out on homosexual urges.
Surely you remember that there is an early stage when one may develop "crushes" on those of the same sex. This happens typically in the early teens. So believing that it is inborn, this individual would believe that this must mean he in fact is gay.
And the stronger the homosexual presence in America becomes (aided by well-meaning people such as yourself and the media, many of whose members are homosexual/bisexual) the more it adds to this person's confusion.
The young person may have a problem with masculinity/feminity, difficulty making friends, etc. and now believes all these problems will be solved with his newfound "community."
So I object to having gay marriage institutionalized b/c it is a bad influence over our youth. I am not even going to get into the fact that gay couples are adopting more and more defenseless children.
This is a very unwholesome way of life as shown by the early age at which practicing homosexuals die. They get many more diseases than heterosexuals. Spiritually, it is very bad because most of them are unable to form attachments and are extremely promiscuous and are sex-addicted.
This is something we do not want to encourage in our society if it is to protect its youth as well as everyone else. The family is the building block of society. The stronger it is the less govt. has a role in butting into our lives.
Furthermore, consider this: the more animals get legal "rights" the more your rights as a human being are weakened. So, yes, this does take away from the uniqueness that married couples get in our society.
If someone wants to act on homosexual urges, that is one thing. But that should not be granted protected status (as is now the case).
And don't look for a politician to say any of this.
