Without a public Option it is a waste of a trillion dollars of public money that will be given to the health insurance companies

"Years ago on the House floor on a foreign aid debate, I called the members of the House of Representatives a bunch of political prostitutes," he said. "They demanded my words be stricken. They jumped up like 100 TV evangelists..." "...I want to apologize to all the hookers in America for having associated them with the United States House of Representatives," -Former Rep. Jim Traficant (D-Ohio)

Surprise, the Health Bill proposed by the Democrats does not include a public option. It is a disgusting affront and betrayed of the electorate. Howard Dean said that, 'without a public Option it is a waste of a trillion dollars of public money that will be given to the health insurance companies.'
Democrats you were elected by the people to serve the people not the health insurance corporations, that is the job of the Republicans. You are expected to answer to your constituents not to the corporations, that is also the job of the Republicans. What don't you understand about this? The Republicans have always catered to the corporate entity at the expense of the American people, but now you, the Democrats are doing the same thing.
Sen. Baucus who has been bought and paid for by the Health Insurance Companies has sold his soul and his good offices to the corporate interest of the health insurance industry for little more that three point nine million dollars. They bought him cheap!
Those in whom we put our trust should serve the interests of the people who put them in office, not corporate lobbyist representing the health insurance industry. We know Baucus and Snow can't be trusted to be honest brokers, but can Harry Reid be trusted? I think not. It seems again that the Democrats have lost their courage and are capitulating to the Health Insurance Industry. If the Democrats fail they do not deserve to hold office and they deserve to be swept out of office. Over sixty five percent of the people across America want a public option and they have long memories and those that betray them will feel their power when the people go to the polls. If the Democrats in congress are going to act like Republicans lets elect Republicans so that they can screw up the country like they did under Bush and then elect a new wave of Democrats, hopefully with spines, to fix it. It may take six more years before we get it right but the people will eventually be served. As Jim Traficiant said of the congress, "Years ago on the House floor on a foreign aid debate, I called the members of the House of Representatives a bunch of political prostitutes," he said. "They demanded my words be stricken. They jumped up like 100 TV evangelists..." "...I want to apologize to all the hookers in America for having associated them with the United States House of Representatives," he continued. "Yeah, I think it is a big whorehouse...” -Former Rep. Jim Traficant (D-Ohio) He's not far from the truth.

Science and Environment

The UN Climate Change Conference in December will try to reach an international deal on cutting carbon emissions so global warming stays below an increase of 2C (3.6F) above pre-industrial levels.
Prof Schellnhuber, the director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Change, said the chance of getting such a deal was "pie in the sky" because rich countries like America are unwilling to sign up to ambitious enough targets."
"In a sense the US is climate illiterate. If you look at global polls about what the public knows about climate change even in Brazil, China you have more people who know about the problem and think deep cuts in emissions are needed," he said.
"Prof Schellnhuber, who has played a key role in waking the world up to climate change through his work advising the German government, described the Copenhagen conference as 'the most important meeting in the history of the human species'."
