Thank you America. One should never forget that we live in a country of free men. We enjoy freedoms never before enjoyed by any citizen of any country. It has been copied but never truly duplicated. Our freedom has been won by blood and sacrifice of countless generations of American and immigrants. Our freedom is something we must be vigilant to protect. It is a fragile yet resilient thing.
This blog would have been shut down and this blogger arrested and sent to places unknown and quite possibly never seen again had it been published in any number of countries around the world criticizing those countries, such as China, North Korea, Myanmar, Venezuela, Cuba, Russia. There are today in America people who would challenge the right of anyone to voice their opinion were it not for our constitution. It is truly the responsibility of every citizen to voice their opinion, join together to fight against the voices of intolerance that would limit that freedom.
What dangers do we face? Where to begin? How about the lobbyist and the politicians who are more concerned about powerful interests and not the welfare of the people; the radical right and left that would take away your freedom to disagree and the evangelicals who have the word from god and would deny you the right to live in America if you disagreed with them. Then there is the governments unto themselves, Exxon, Shell, and many more who act against the good of the planet.
Our founding fathers recognized these dangers and put into place a system of
government that while at times it shifts right or left always finds balance. They understood that men create factions and they knew that there would be enough factions to right the ship when it tipped to far. I think we are approaching one of those shifts now.
The Bush administration has been a disaster. Bush has betrayed the true Republicans, and pandered to the extreme right and right wing evangelicals. Bush denies there is global warming, a financial crises, and housing meltdown. He wants another 100 billion for the war in Iraq, but will deny tax incentives for alternate energy sources. Who does this benefit, who else but his real constituency big oil, who does it hurt, the working class, the environment, and the fledgling alternate energy industry.
Americans continue to die in Iraq for oil and America is more dependent on it than ever before despite all the promises to be independent and self sufficient, promises of George Bush over the last seven years. So now we rape the Alaskan wilderness in the search for more oil. This Administration will be judged by history and history will judge it harshly. This is not to say that the Democrats are not at fault. No one is weaker than Nancy Pelosi who caves in to Bush and refuses to do what she was elected to do.
Bush says Iran a danger to the free world.
Bush sends second carrier to the gulf, says that it is not provocative.
The Pentagon has ratcheted up the Iran rhetoric. It is time to impeach this stupid dangerous man Bush who is ruining America. He has already hijacked the constitution and destroyed this country's economy. It is time to get our Republic back.
"If you're going to go in and try to topple Saddam Hussein, you have to go to Baghdad. Once you've got Baghdad, it's not clear what you do with it. It's not clear what kind of government you would put in place of the one that's currently there now. Is it going to be a Shia regime, a Sunni regime or a Kurdish regime? Or one that tilts toward the Baathists, or one that tilts toward the Islamic fundamentalists? How much credibility is that government going to have if it's set up by the United States military when it's there? How long does the United States military have to stay to protect the people that sign on for that government, and what happens to it once we leave?"

Beware; Red Neck News
Journalism has been downgraded to a soap opera in America. There is little if any serious news on TV, especially Fox, redneck, News. Mainstream news has become a joke. It is time to demand that the news media regain it mandate. It is time to see the Rush, redneck, Limbaugh and Sean, redneck, Hannity for what they are, hucksters and shills for the extreme right. They are anti-intellectual buffoons catering to the basest instincts of man. What they do is simplify the issues making everything black and white with no grey areas. They pander to prejudice and frame the issues in simplistic terms. They don't want people to ask questions or think. There is no analysis, in depth examination of the issues. It's keep it simple stupid. They are not alone, there is the major news outlets whose reporters are bullied by the White House and fail to question or dig behind the oft quoted piece from the talking heads.
NET NEUTRALITY NOW, the true freedom of the press.
Net neutrality is vital if we are to have a truly free press. It is vital the we save the internet from the media and telecoms giants that would control what goes through the pipe. They were not there when this wonderful medium came about but since it is here and a success they want to control it and dictate its use. Support Net Neutrality.
