Will the last person on the planet please turn of the lights before you die.

Vanity Fair
I just bought the May issue of Vanity Fair, a surprise to my wife, but it is their Green Issue and I thought it important. My wife, a highly intelligent woman, approved and agreed that the issues it covered are worth reading. I am concerned with global warming and climate change and I am amazed that, with the mountain of evidence, their are people in our government and the media who think that it is not happening or a natural process.
Of course there are interest opposed to any change and they are the ones you would expect, big oil, the automobile industry or investors in industries that that might suffer from sustained change in use of natural resources. The sellouts are the paid pundits and the class of naysayers who believe that the sun revolves around the earth and that the world is flat, and who reject all change, because it is profitable. The oil companies are the major culprits, they have the money and the power and will squash anyone who stands in the way of their profit and their control of the market and the source. They are totalitarian states in and of themselves. They are out there to control the world market. They are opposed to anything that would threaten their strangle hold on the use of fossil fuels such as Electric Cars and it can be speculated that it is the reason that no major car company has mass produced them. That is most likely the reason that Chevrolet crushed their successful Electric car in the 80's, and Toyota stopped production on the Rav4 EV which, which while widely successful, was abandoned and most were sent to the crusher.

A Piece in Vanity Fair worth reading
The United States Defense Department thinks that climate change is real and in a published study states that in 10 years we could see dramatic changes in the world that would be disastrous on a global scale. They suggest that as a result of fresh water melting into the ocean from Greenland and the polar ice caps the slowing or stopping of the conveyor belt in the next ten years, is possible and more than probable. The conveyor belt drives the gulf stream and its stopping would result in a mini-ice age in New England, Northern Europe and England while in other parts of the world droughts on a global scale and in some places massive flooding could ravage millions of people.

The Amazon
The Amazon has experienced two major droughts in the past two years. It is not supposed to happen in tropical rain forests. It is predicted that half the rain forest in the Amazon could be a savanna in 50 years. To ignore the facts is madness, but big and I mean really big business does not want change. They are a power unto themselves and control mass media and governments. They have short term goals and stock holders to appease but if this continues the ultimate cost will be paid by us all. Companies like Exxon, GM, BP, Chevron, Ford,Toyota, Halliburton, Dow, Monsanto, in my opinion, don't have a social or moral conscience. They only see the bottom line and be damned with the individual or the planet.

History shows us that people who sounded warnings were dismissed as crazy, but the truth is, in my opinion, fools like Rush Limbaugh are the real danger, he is stupid, and an uninformed moron who uses the airways to spout misinformation. It is not the scientist or researcher who has spent 20 or more years of their lives in studying the planet and know what they are talking about that are crazy. These are passionate people who see the danger the planet is in and are trying to alert us to the urgent need for action.
